We delivered the comprehensive M&E Services Design for the 7,500 sq.m, three-storey Nenagh Primary Care Centre and Tusla Offices. This critical project required a highly specialized design to support a vast range of complex clinical services for the HSE (Health Service Executive), including advanced chronic disease management, specialized therapy rooms (Physiotherapy, Audiology, etc.), Dental/Orthodontic services, GP offices, and TUSLA facilities.

Our design focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, and life safety across all systems, ensuring reliability for the clinical environment.

Sustainable Engineering Focus:

• Design and specification of high-efficiency LED lighting with occupancy/daylight controls.
• Implementation of advanced Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) systems across all zones to significantly reduce heating demand.
• Integration of a comprehensive Building Energy Management System (BEMS) for optimal plant control and performance based on real-time conditions.
• Use of Variable Speed Controls (VSC) on all major motors and pumps, and low water content heating emitters for efficient space conditioning.
• Detailed metering and sub-metering for precise energy and water monitoring, plus specification of sensor-operated sanitary fittings for water conservation.

Integrated Security and Life Protection:

• Design of a fully addressable Fire Detection and Alarm System (IS 3218 compliant), seamlessly integrated with the BEMS and access control for automated safety responses (e.g., shutdown of specific ventilation zones).
• Specification of a Voice Alarm (VA) system and compliant emergency lighting to ensure safe egress for vulnerable patients.
• Implementation of layered security systems, including a computer-managed Access Control System (ACS) for secure areas, a comprehensive Intruder Alarm System (IAS), and high-definition CCTV surveillance of perimeters and circulation areas.

Specialised Clinical Systems:

• Infrastructure design for specialist medical equipment, including the routing and installation of medical gas systems for clinical areas.

This integrated M&E strategy successfully transformed the facility into a sustainable, high-performance, and safe hub for modern community healthcare.
