Project Scope
Refurbishment and fit out of the second floor at the Savoy Hotel, Limerick. The works were completed to the 5-star rating the hotel already holds. The works included the strip-out of the existing meeting room and conference room suites and installation of new partitions, ceilings and finishes to provide an additional 11 standard rooms, 2 suites and 1 lobby suite. The hotel remained fully operational throughout these works.
Sustainability
The project included the following energy saving measures in the design: high efficiency lighting; Building Energy Management Systems; metering and sub-metering of distribution boards and water supplies; variable speed controls for motors and pumps; low water content heating emitters. A “Live” Hotel Environment Working within a “live” hotel in a city centre location, the project was phased to ensure continuation of services in other areas of the hotel for guests throughout the duration of each construction phase. Services connections and shutdowns were planned at times when demand for services would be at a minimum to prevent any disruption to guests.
Demolition Works
The works also included the complete strip out and demolition of the existing finishes, mechanical and electrical services installations, and fitout of the existing meeting and conference rooms.
Health & Safety
Implementation of the General Principles of Prevention informed all design decisions.
